The Challenge
PetSmart needed a centralized benefits resource for 50,000+ associates across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico — a platform where anyone could find answers about medical plans, 401(k) enrollment, time off policies, and life events like adding a dependent. It needed to work on any device, meet accessibility standards, require no training to navigate, and be maintainable by PetSmart’s HR team without developer involvement.

Working with PetSmart’s benefits and HR teams, we designed and developed the platform from the ground up — information architecture, UX, visual design, and front-end development. Benefits information was organized into sections: Benefits 101, Health Benefits, Financial Benefits, Part-Time Offerings, Life Events, and Discounts & Offerings. Each section covers plan details, eligibility rules, and enrollment steps in plain language.
Multi-Region
The site serves three regions — U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico — each with different plans, regulations, and eligibility rules. A region-selection system at entry routes associates to the correct content. Within each region, the site further segments by employment status so full-time and part-time associates see only what applies to them.
Document Management
Alongside the site content, we built a document management system for PetSmart’s benefits library. Admins can upload, organize, and manage plan summaries, enrollment forms, and policy guides. Associates can search the full library. The system tracks download frequency and usage, giving PetSmart visibility into which documents are being accessed.
Content and Navigation
The U.S. section covers medical plan comparisons with weekly rates, prescription drug coverage, 401(k) enrollment, FSA/HSA explanations, life insurance, disability coverage, and discount programs. Mega-navigation menus, breadcrumbs, and consistent page layouts keep associates oriented throughout.
Built to Be Maintained
PetSmart’s team updates plan rates, enrollment windows, and policy details each year. The site’s architecture makes those updates straightforward without developer help. Responsive design covers desktop, tablet, and phone.
Ongoing Support
The relationship with PetSmart didn’t end at launch. We host and maintain the site on enterprise AWS infrastructure, handle security and uptime, and work with PetSmart’s team on a continuing basis for ad-hoc updates, content changes, and accessibility compliance as standards evolve.

A multi-region benefits platform serving 50,000+ PetSmart associates across three countries. It’s been running for years as the single source of truth for benefits information across every employment category.
