The Challenge
Museums live and die by repeat visits. The Children’s Museum of Phoenix had no shortage of great programming — but once a family walked out the door, there was little pulling them back. The museum needed a way to extend the experience beyond the building and create a social reason to return.
A Scheduler Built Around How Families Actually Plan
The Playdate Scheduler let parents browse available museum activities, pick a date and experience they wanted to share, and send invitations directly to friends and family. The flow was designed around the way parents actually plan outings — not around the museum’s internal calendar logic. Guests could RSVP, see who was coming, and arrive already excited.
Turning Visitors Into Organizers
The real insight was making museum guests into hosts. By giving parents a tool to invite their social circle, the museum effectively deputized its visitors as ambassadors. Every playdate invitation was a low-pressure marketing touchpoint reaching families who hadn’t visited yet.
The Result
The Playdate Scheduler transformed the museum visit from a one-family outing into a shared social event. It gave the museum a direct line into family social networks, generated organic repeat traffic, and created a category of visitor — the playdate organizer — who had a personal stake in the experience going well. It was a platform that worked as hard after the visit as it did before it.
